Covid-19 Stress & OvereatingI gained 25 pounds from stress eating during Covid-19 and wanted to lose it. One night I had finished dinner and began eating comfort food to deal with my stress. I started with a piece of cheesecake, then cookies, then ice cream, then yogurt, then more cookies, chips and this went on for almost 2 hours.
I finally decided logically I did not need to eat any more but my body said to open the refrigerator door and eat more. This strange conversation of my logical mind saying to stop eating and my body demanding that I eat more made me mad. I threw out all the comfort food so it couldn’t tempt or hurt me anymore.
Human Body’s Natural Portion ControlOnce again I did some research and found that the body has a natural portion control that measures how much you have in your stomach and how much fat you have stored and reports back to the brain when you are full and have enough fat stored.
High carb comfort food can mess this up by raising the blood sugar levels and overwhelming the brains portion control telling it that you are starving and need to eat more and store more fat. When this happens the brains survival response tells a person that they are starving, which is a lie, overwhelms their logical mind causing them to overeat.
Knowing this mechanism I have cut back on comfort food and carbs and am eating healthier. I still do some comfort food on occasion but not like I used to. Talking with a friend they said that eating healthy had to be made easy with steps on how to do it.
The 425 DietFrom this experience I created the 425 diet. It is eating 25% of four food groups: Protein, Fats, Vegetables and Carbohydrates. This percentage is adjustable between the food groups for faster weight loss and then maintenance.
The 425 Diet is available as a download on my website as well as the section on how drinking water helps your lungs fight hay fever, colds, flu and Covid-19 virus. There is also a download that shows how nose breathing helps keep your body healthy.
Food, water and air are the 3 highest human needs. My journey took me through all 3 where I learned how important they are. When you discover solutions to really important things that can help people you want to share them.
